The deforestation of rome was caused by many different causes. One of these causes included using the wood from the trees for building projects, using wood for heating supplies, using the wood in there industrys, and the Romans often cut down trees to make room for agriculture.The causes and effects of deforestation in rome Roman culture and environment
How the deforestation helped out with war and enemies
The conquering generals such as Julius Ceaser found that native tribes in gaul or britian would easily escape through the woods and easily escape the romans. they would then send surprise attacks when the Romans would try to set up camps. To prevent this from happening the generals took action and burned down thosands of acres of forests. The causes and effects of deforestation in ancient rome
The aftermath of the deforestation;
There were so many effects of the deforestation that lead to the fall of the roman empire like loss of topsoil, an increase in marshland, and an increase of Malaria.
Loss of topsoil:
After all these trees had been cut down it caused loss of topsoil. when heavy rains happened there would be nothing there to hold the soil in place so the rains would wash away the soil. when the loss of topsoil happened, there was a decrease in the amounts of crops they could grow. The lack of crops and food caused famines.
How the deforestation lead to the fall of the Roman empire
With the loss in topsoil and crops, the increase in marshlands, and the increase in malaria Rome crumbled to pieces. With the decrease in crops, Rome slowly started to starve. The increase in malaria made many Romans ill and also many died. The increase in Malaria also drove many of the Romans settled in towns near the marshlands, move into the crowded cities which caused an increase in population. the increase in population caused many famines in the cities and also unemployment rates went up. With unemployment rates up, many citizens could afford little food if that which caused starvation.
originally, almost half of the United States, three-quarters of Canada, almost all of europe, the plains of levant and much of the rest of the world were forested. today most deforestation happens because we use the wood form the trees for fuel and for building projects. a lot of forests have had to be cut down to make room for farming.we also use trees to manufacture some of our goods like paper. Today, excluding the polar regions, forest cover a little over a quarterof the earth.
What are some of the effects that we experience today with Deforestation?
deforestation
With deforestation these day we experience many different effects. One of the most major effects caused by deforestation is many species of animals are becoming extinct because of lose of habitats. More then 70% of earths land animals and plants live in forests and many of them are becoming extinct because they are losing there habitat when we cut down trees.
Deforestation also causes climate changes. Forest soil is moist but without the trees there to help keep the soil shaded from the sun, the soil dries up.Over time all areas that used to be forested will turn into barren deserts. trees play a big role in absorbing greenouse gases which fuel global warming. If there are fewer forests, less Greenhouse gases will be absorbed and global warming will increase. Deforesation takes away the trees that canopy the forest areas.Canopys keep those areas cool durng the day by blocking the rays of sunlight out and then keeping heat in during the night. If there arent any trees there help maintain this it can lead to extrem temperture swings that can be harmful to plants and animals.
WHAT ARE SOME SOLUTIONS TO THESE PROBLEMS
. The simplest solution would be to stop cutting down trees all together but since trees are use trees for so many of our resoures, it would be almost impossible to stop cutting them down. A more reasonable solution would be to manage the amount of trees that we cut down.
. Another possible solution to stop deforestation is to find other resources that we can use to make our products or use for some of our building projects.

As a result from the erosion of the soil, a lot of the rich soil and water would build i nthe lower land areas creating marshlands. The increase in marshlands also increased the illness known as malaria. The increase in malaria drove out settlements near the marshlands. All the people who once lived in these settlements filled in ithe already crowded cities, looking for employment..The causes and effects of deforestation in rome
